B-Day >> T Minus 171 Days
Yes I know it’s been a while since I did a weight-loss update. After getting an email with instructions on measuring myself for our custom-made bridesmaid dresses it’s time to get serious.
I will be a bridesmaid for a very dear friend for the very first time next year. B-Day is March 11, 2018, a mere 171 days away and I need to drop 40 lbs.
I realize that one of my problems is that I don’t have a schedule for anything! I don’t even get to work at the same time each day. Yesterday I came in at 7:55 am and today I strolled in at 10:36 am. On my eating habits, Monday I ended up not eating anything until I left work at 9pm when I had McDonalds. Wednesday I stopped at Cracker barrel for bacon, eggs, and toast for breakfast. After a meeting my boss treated us to lunch and I had a salad and got a grilled chicken sandwich to go which I ate for dinner when I left work – again at 9pm. Every day is completely different from the previous one and I know this lack of structure is contributing to failure to make progress on my weight-loss.
So the problem to solve-for is how does one who is by nature time-challenged improve this condition? Google of course!
I searched for ‘get control of your life get control of your time’ and it turns out that there is a book titled “How to Get Control of Your Time and Your Life” written in 1973 by Alan Lakein. Since I don’t have time to read the book I opted to quick-watch some of the You Tube version. It was okay but the next one was better.
In the sidebar I saw another more recent book by Brian Tracy called “Master Your Time, Master Your Life.” Below is an interview he did with Inspire Nation back in January 2017:
I really liked Brian because he dealt with my core issue “You can want something all you want but until you make that decision with action – nothing changes!” I’ve been ery inconsistent in my actions toward my weight-loss goal and that has to change.
So the next question/challenge to is how do you turn a DESIRE into a DECISION?
I think this is where most people are having trouble. We know we need to do something and we have some level of desire to do it but the power to take consistent action towards it eludes us.
Paul put it this way in Romans 7:18 NASB version says “for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.” The NIV version says “for I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.”
The Good News is that in verse 24, Paul gives us the answer to this sad state of affairs and it’s applicable to all manner types of personal changes we need to make. “Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ” – Romans 7:24 NLT.
So my tasks for next week are:
#1 – Pray specifically about my time issues and ask the Lord for His help
#2 – Plan out a sensible menu
#3 – Go to the grocery store
#4 – Do meal prep on Sunday after church
Meal prep will be new for me but I think it will eliminate some of the unintended bad stuff I’ve been eating. Again I got inspired to do this from Water Jug Fitness You Tube:
So that’s my plan. I would love to hear your tips on how you manage your weight loss. Comment, Like, & Share!
